Cheesecake Factory

As I promised, here is a photo from the Girl's trip to Chicago. We took a bus tour from Angola and spent the day. We had a wonderful time as we had tickets for Jersey Boys, did a little shopping and, of course, had lunch. We decided on the Cheesecake Factory. We were in line by 10:00 in the morning..although we wouldn't have needed to be, but we were not going to miss this. The lunch was terrific, but the dessert was to die for! We ordered four slices of different cheesecakes and passed them among the seven of us. Here is a photo of me taking a bite from each one.
Diet, who's on a diet?

Chocolate!
The scale has not changed, and I declined the second helping of a fabulous dessert at our teacher appreciation luncheon yesterday. The moms at our school are the most incredible cooks ever...I only filled my plate (large) once. Maybe I am on the road to recovery.
I am just now thinking how really wonderful the luncheon was...with balloons and flowers. Not only that, but one day was chocolate day and plastic tubs in our rooms were filled with chocolate. Split decision. Take it home? Eat it as soon as possible? Or give it out to the roaming recess children who come in and out of the Backstage where I work. Easy decision this time..I gave it away. Sorry about that to all the Moms and teachers who had to receive these children later.
Of course, we all know that chocolate is healthy for us..a piece of dark chocolate every day (with red wine) will do wonders for your body and soul.
So, I am on the move. I bought five pounds of fresh asparagus...add grilled chicken, grapes and strawberries and I have dinner ready for tonight.
Except I am going to the movies. Can I really stay away from the popcorn?
Large, anyone?

The Dentist Office
So, yesterday afternoon I went to the dentist and ended up chatting over the front desk with Nancy. Nancy used to run races and marathons, but with her knees bothering her and all that comes with...hmmmmmm...getting a little older, she has had to stop.
Her daughter bought her a Yoga/Pilates CD. She is excited about it! She loves it! She has been using it as a coffee table decoration for weeks, months? However, a few days ago she actually picked it up! I say..now there's a few calories spent just picking it up! Way to go, Nancy.
All right, seriously, I have recently learned that for every one pound you lose, it takes five pounds of pressure off your joints. (Of course, that goes in reverse as well!) That is great incentive for losing just one pound?

Day # ?
I went to a retirement party the other night for my friend Judy. The spread of food was gorgeous and delicious. Our hostess, Katie, had small plates (for dieting friends) and large plates for...well, you kow.
I chose the small plate (because I am dieting...or watching it as I say.) I loved my small plate, the only problem was that I filled it up several times. But I am proud of myself for using a small plate, AND that became my dinner as well.
The past two evenings have been beautiful so I have biked and walked around the neighborhood. It is great tooling around on my bike, visiting with neighbors and folks.
The scale says I have dropped about a pound and a half. I am happy about that.
Tonight I am attending a Senior celebration at Tri-State University in town. Several of us are meeting here for wine and then walking over to the food expo! My friend, Diana, is graduating and we are her family. I'll let you know how the food goes!
Coming Soon: My own ideas of 30 ways...30 days!

Day 3-When is a diet a diet?
It is cold in Northern Indiana this morning and I have not wanted to put my heat back on...so getting out of bed means hurrying to toss on the robe and start the coffee. However....my incentive of jumping out of bed is to get on the scale. I plod down the hall and find the room where my scale is hidden in the corner, turn on the light, and face the music...I mean face the fats cells as they may!
But another surprise, I am down one pound from yesterday. Hurray! It didn't even matter that I ate a row of Keebler chocolate fudge cookies last night with a cup of tea. (It was cold, remember?)
But now the dilemma....if I have gained weight, lost it, gained it...can I actually say I lost it again? And where in the world does it go? I am not a biologist so I don't know the answer. Yesterday I owned one extra pound of fat? Who has it now?
That is for us to ponder today. Hope your diet is going well.

Day 2...Losing .6 ounces
I bought a new scale. It has weights and it some acrylic, see through. It think it is state of the art and I bought it on sale!
I have old wooden floors in my house and I spent an hour moving this scale around to get it....should we say level? Actually, I kept moving it until I found an area that had the lowest weight. I moved it. Weighed. Moved it. Weighed. Finally I found the right spot. It is in the corner of my 'star'room.
So, today I love .6 ounces. How can that be? I ate chocolate candy from the stash in my friend Kathy's desk. I didn't mean to eat the rest of the bag, but we were talking and before long all the wrappers were in a nice neat pile. (I am, at least, a neat fat person!)
I wasn't going to worry, I mean this is only day one...I thought. I was going to walk last night, but the sky was ominous, and so I just stayed in and well, really, didn't do much.
But, hey, I am down .6 ounces. That is the size of a hamburger or a small steak.
I am going to celebrate! Excuse me while I get a small snack!
